The Muonionalusta meteorite, first discovered in 1906 near the village of Kitkiöjärvi, is a rare find with around forty known fragments, some of considerable size, found in the Pajala district of Norrbotten County, approximately 140 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. This meteorite, first described in 1910 by Professor A. G. Högbom and later studied by Professor Nils Göran David Malmqvist in 1948, is believed to be the oldest known meteorite, dating back 4.5653 ± 0.0001 billion years.
